THE CHALLENGE
Two adjoining developments, three separate parking areas, and an electricity network that couldn't yet support them. Charging had to be delivered across all three locations at once — which meant coordinating an ESB substation upgrade before a single charger could go live.
THE SOLUTION
- Three car parks, one project — Collegefort duplexes plus Collegewood upper and lower parking, designed and installed together.
- ESB substation upgrade managed — GEV coordinated the network upgrade so every site had the capacity it needed.
- 22kW smart chargers — with an Easee equaliser balancing load and phase dynamically at each location.
- Grant handled for the OMC — the SEAI application prepared and submitted on the OMC's behalf.
THE RESULTS
- 17 chargers installed across the three parking areas.
- A blocked rollout unblocked — the ESB substation upgrade was coordinated end to end.
- Maximum SEAI grant secured on the infrastructure at each location.
- Room to grow — smart infrastructure ready for more chargers as demand rises.

WHY THE APPROACH WORKS
Multi-location developments are where EV charging usually stalls — every extra car park and every network constraint adds cost and complexity. By treating all three locations as one coordinated project and taking the ESB substation upgrade in hand, GEV turned a complicated, blocked rollout into a single grant-funded install.
